Current Badge List

All official GSUSA badges for Junior level released from 2011 to present. This does not include any Council Own badges, Council Patch Programs, or Fun Patches.

  1. Animal Habitats – Observe wild animals, create a model animal home or draw a habitat, learn of endangered habitats, and help a habitat.
  2. App Development – Learn decomposition, draw an app screen, then draw a new one after a conditional.
  3. Art and Design – Learn about art elements and composition, then draw, paint, or make an art project about something and share it.
  4. Automotive Design – Learn about car history and do market research. Then draw a car and make a model.
  5. Automotive Engineering – Learn about simple and compound machines, and alternate fuels. Then build a small alternate fuel car and test how it moves.
  6. Automotive Manufacturing – Learn the 5S System, make an assembly line plan, and try it out.
  7. Balloon Car Design Challenge – Learn about energy and build a balloon-powered car. Then test how far it can go.
  8. Budget Maker – Practice spend-save-share and needs versus wants, learn to avoid buyer’s remorse, and explore financial services.
  9. Business Jumpstart – Think of a business idea, make a prototype, and learn how to pitch the idea.
  10. Camper – Get ready for a camping trip, learn outdoor skills, camp overnight, and do one fun thing at night.
  11. Climbing (or Snow) Adventure – Explore options, prepare and practice, learn the gear, and try recreational tree-climbing while staying safe.
  12. Coding Basics – Learn about a woman in computer science and about algorithms, conditionals, and loops.
  13. Cookie Collaborator – Practice cookie sales, set a cookie-selling goal and budget, make a sales plan, and have customer practice or interaction.
  14. Craft and Tinker – Learn the tools of a craft, research users, and create a user-centered project
  15. Crane Design Challenge – Learn about simple and compound machines, build a crane and test how it lifts objects.
  16. Create and Innovate – Brainstorm, make something with a purpose, and make something to help a community or the environment.
  17. Cybersecurity Basics – Learn about binary code, how computers and networks work, and how to stay safe online.
  18. Cybersecurity Investigator – Crack a code, learn how to protect computers from online dangers, and what identity theft and phishing is.
  19. Cybersecurity Safeguards – Keep your online information safe with passwords, information sharing rules, and who to trust.
  20. Democracy for Juniors – Discover how local, state, and federal government works and explore the three branches of government.
  21. Design with Nature – Calculate several things (speed, hike time, elevations, amount of food needed for an outing), and figure out how much volume is needed to fit something.
  22. Designing Robots – Learn biomimicry, design a robot with an algorithm, and make a model of the robot.
  23. Detective – Fingerprinting, code breaking, observation games, and solve mysteries using evidence.
  24. Digital Game Design – Create a maze game using algorithms.
  25. Digital Leadership – Learn how to be kind and safe online.
  26. Digital Photographer – Take and edit photos and create art with them to share.
  27. Eco Camper – Explore Leave No Trace, prepare food with minimal or no trash, hike with conservation in mind, and camp with minimal impact.
  28. Entertainment Technology – Explore how movies, music, and games are made.
  29. First Aid – Learn Check-Call-Care, make a small first aid kit, and find out how help someone who is sick or injured.
  30. Flowers – Discover different types of flowers and how they grow.
  31. Gardener – Explore a garden, design a garden, do a seed experiment, and learn and grow 6 plants.
  32. Geocacher – Use a GPS to find hidden treasures outdoors.
  33. Girl Scout Way – Learn about Girl Scout traditions and songs.
  34. Horseback Riding – Learn how to ride and care for a horse.
  35. Independence – Practice independence, make a new habit, and learn three chores.
  36. Inside Government – Explore how laws are made, what an Active Citizen is, explore local or state government meetings, and role play government involvement OR raise awareness about an issue.
  37. Musician – Listen to music, explore what music others like, and make and perform music.
  38. My Cookie Team – Cookie flavors, a sales goal, and make a sales plan and pitch.
  39. My Money Plan – Learn about jobs, income, investing, and how to protect personal banking info.
  40. Numbers in Nature – Make a sundial, track weather, trace shadows, and calculate measurements.
  41. Outdoor Art Explorer – Make art inspired by or from nature.
  42. Paddle Boat Design Challenge – Build and test a small paddle-powered boat.
  43. Playing the Past – Attend or host an event about a past time period with several activities and costume creation (drawn or worn).
  44. Practice with Purpose – Make and follow a month long plan that does three activities (endurance, strength, AND skill drill) at least twice a week.
  45. Programming Robots – Learn about algorithms, program a friend, and do an Hour of Code project online.
  46. Scribe – Write stories, poems, and articles to share with others.
  47. Shapes in Nature – Explore symmetry, make a radial or concentric pattern, track or recreate fractals, and learn about the Fibonacci sequence.
  48. Showcasing Robots – Show off a robot you built and learn about robotic competitions and teams.
  49. Simple Meals – Make 3 meals and a dessert.
  50. Snow (or Climbing) Adventure – Explore options, prepare and practice, learn the gear, and try a winter slope sport while staying safe.
  51. Social Butterfly – Host an event and use table manners, thank someone, and learn about the art of conversations.
  52. Space Science Investigator – Explore planets, rotation of the earth, and the stars.
  53. STEM Career Exploration – Discover cool jobs and how they use STEM.
  54. Trail Adventure – Hiking Go on three different 3 hour hikes.
  55. Trail Adventure – Trail Running Go on a one-mile run.
  56. Uniquely Us Discover what makes you one-of-a-kind, celebrate your body’s strengths, express your personality, and find connections with others.
  57. World Thinking Day (Yearly Release) – Learn about a topic GSUSA picks each year that affects the entire world.

Awards

These are official GSUSA award pins for Junior level released from 2011 to present.

  • Bronze Award – Spend at least 20 hours on a community-focused permanent project, such as building a structure, providing education, or advocating for an issue, that includes research, planning, taking action, and sharing the impact the project had.
  • Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pin (Year 1 & 2) – Work at home to set cookie-selling goals, practice using money, and learn how to talk to customers.
  • Global Action Award Pin (New GSUSA Pin in 2025) – Find a way to help one of the 17 sustainable development goals and make a difference.
  • International Friendship Pin – Live in a different country, teach a friend about scouts, and do a good turn daily.
  • Junior Aide Award Pin (New GSUSA Pin in 2025) – Support a younger group by observing a meeting, assisting in another with the leader’s help, and then planning and leading your own activity that keeps everyone engaged and included.
  • My Promise, My Faith Pin (Year 1 & 2) – Explore how your Girl Scout Promise connects to your faith and values.
  • Safety Award Pin – Do an emergency evacuation drill, take a Hazard Walk, learn bike safety, how to prevent common injuries, AND read weather signs.
  • Take Action Award Pin (New GSUSA Pin Coming Soon in August 2025) –  Find a way to help your community and make a difference.
  • True North Award Pin (Bronze) – (New GSUSA Pin in 2025) Choose a courageous goal that reflects your values, make a plan to achieve it, take action, and reflect on how it strengthens your character and leadership.

Badge Sets

These Sets are badges that are grouped in sets by GSUSA because their requirements are all in the same badge booklet, or they were released in the same year as a set. All badges can be earn independently from each other at any time.

Retired Badges

  • Global Action Award (Year 1 & 2 Badges) – Learn about a topic GSUSA picks each year to help achieve one of the 17 sustainable development goals.
  • Agent of Change (Journey Set) – Explore a female role model and community issues before finding ways to make a difference, and do a Take Action Project.
  • aMUSE (Journey Set) – Explore stereotypes, how they affect careers, how to fight stereotypes to help your community, and do a Take Action Project.
  • Get Moving (Journey Set) – Explore energy, learn how to conserve, investigate energy in your building, and do a Take Action Project.
  • Outdoor Journey (Journey Set) – Earn three specific outdoor badges and do a Take Action Project.
  • Think Like a Citizen Scientist (Journey Set) – Observe nature, record what you see, help scientists study the world, and do a Take Action Project.
  • Think Like a Programmer (Journey Set) – Learn how to give computers instructions solve problems using coding, and do a Take Action Project.
  • Think Like an Engineer (Journey Set) – Build and create things to solve problems, and do a Take Action Project.
