Heat and Light. Zombie Rocker Step 1

At Home – Step 1 of 4

  1. Grab and Go Kit

First, Read the Information You Need:

A grab and go kit can also be called a Bug Out Bag (BOB for short), Go bags, Grab bags, Get Out Of Dodge bags (GOOD bags for short), Personal Emergency Relocation Kits (PERK for short), or 72 hour kits. These bags are designed for someone to grab and be able to survive for 72 hours with whatever is inside.

To start out, our Grab and Go Kit will not have enough for a full 72 hour kit. But we want to cover the basics of immediate survival. We should have a copy of our plan (the Family Reunification Plan from Communication Rocker Step 1) and a way to keep us warm, fed, hydrated, with the ability to see when it’s dark.

Read through the very basic list of five items that should be in your Grab and Go Kit on the Heat-and-light-step-1 document.

Second, Choose an Option:

Option 1:
Specialized Kit
Option 2:
On Hand Kit
Grab a zip top plastic bag of 1 gallon or larger size. Place the following inside:

– flashlight (with extra batteries!)
– Mylar blanket
– family reunification plan
– 1 or 2 protein bars
– water pouches or bottles

Were you able to find everything?
Don’t have a Mylar blanket? Never eaten a protein bar or don’t have any on hand?

Substitute with what can be found around the house. Grab an old backpack or bag. Make sure it is in a place easy to find in an emergency. Place the following inside:

– flashlight (with extra batteries!)
– a folded blanket
– family reunification plan
– 1 or 2 portions of a filling, healthy, snack with an expiration date at least 3 months away
– a sealed water bottle

Were you able to find everything?

Congrats!
