2001 – Wildlife

Complete 6 of the following 10 options:

  • As a troop, What is your state’s bird,flower, and tree? Why were they chosen? Hold a party where each person also chooses a representation and people guess what it is.
  • Draw, take pictures of a plant or animal you can easily observe. Capture details.
  • Choose something from your kitchen that best matches how each bird in this list uses its beak as a tool to eat it’s food.
  • Pick two wildlife groups from the list and learn what characteristics all members share.
  • Identify 1-2 poisonous plants or animals in your area and answer these questions.
  • Find 2 endangered animals or plants in your state or region and answer these questions. Participate in a project that helps wildlife in your community.
  • Use two of the items in this list to see a plant or animal up close.
  • Use 3 things from this list to identify at least 3 kinds of birds or other animals in your neighborhood.
  • Find healthy properties of 3 plants from this list.
  • Pick a wild animal you can easily observe. Watch the animal for a while and try to identify 3 things from this list.

  • What endangered animals or plants are in your state? Why are they endangered and what is being done to protect them? Learn about an organization that works to protect any kind of endangered animals anywhere in the world.
  • Pick 1 wildlife group from this list and be able to identify 5 species in that group by their behavior, field marks, or habitat.

Complete 3 of the following 5 options:

  • Which bird, tree, and flower represent your state? Does your state have any other wildlife symbols? Why was each chosen?
  • Identify poisonous plants, animals, and insects are in your area and answer these questions.
  • Visit 1 wildlife area from this list and answer these questions.
  • Visit on place from this list where you can observe a species from your wildlife group. Answer these questions.
  • What careers are related to wildlife? Talk to someone who works as one of the careers from this list.
