Activity Description: Youth introduce themselves by creating short, fun rhymes.

Items Needed:

  • Paper for each youth
  • Pen or pencil for each youth

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–20 min):

  1. Write a personal poem (8–10 min)
    • Include their name.
    • Mention something about them.
    • Be at least four lines long.
    • (Optional) Use a “name poem” format if they like, where each letter of their first name starts a line in the poem.
  2. Share with the group (5–7 min)
    • Youth take turns reading their poem aloud to introduce themselves.

Optional Reflection:

  1. Reflect and celebrate (2–3 min)
    • Talk briefly about how poems can show personality.
    • Display poems or send them home as keepsakes.

Variations

  • Team Project: Youths can write the group’s name instead of their individual names and decorate the letters together.
  • Themes: Assign a theme for the poems, such as hobbies, favorite activities, or things related to the group’s interests.
