Activity Description: Youth clap out the syllables of names while performing matching actions.
Items Needed:
- None (just the group and their creativity!)
Instructions:
- Have the group stand in a circle.
- Each youth chooses an action for every syllable of their name.
- Example: For “Elvis,” he could do a “hi shake” for “El” and snap his fingers for “vis.”
- Each youth performs their chosen actions while saying their name aloud.
- The entire group repeats the name and actions together.
- Move to the next youth. After they perform their name and actions, the group repeats them, then also repeats the previous youth’s name and actions (e.g., Elvis).
- Continue until everyone has had a turn and the group has learned all the names and actions!
