Slice the Media Pie

One of the 8 options for Step 1 of GSUSA Cadette MEdia Journey Set requirements.

Items needed

  • Pens or pencils
  • Paper (enough for at least one per scout)

Instructions

  • Scouts think about their daily media consumption—how much time they spend on activities like watching TV, browsing the internet, gaming, or using social media.
  • Using the paper, scouts draw a pie chart to represent their daily media intake. They divide and label the chart based on how much time they dedicate to each activity.
  • After creating their charts, scouts discuss their media consumption with friends or family members. Compare their charts and talk about what others think of their media use and how it compares to their own habits.
