Happy Box

Fulfills Step 4 of GSUSA Brownie My Best Self badge requirements.

Items Needed:

  • Printout (and possibly pre-cut) of Positive Affirmation Cards for each scout.
  • Scissors for each scout (if you didn’t pre-cut the Positive Affirmation Cards).
  • A bag or box (could simply be a clear plastic sandwich bag) for each scout.

Instructions:

  • Ask about favorite activities. If they enjoy what they’re doing, it’s a good sign they’re happy. Some activities bring more happiness than others. The next time you start to feel sad or upset – try doing one of your happy activities! Sometimes we don’t have time to do an activity. A Happy Box has little cards or sayings or memories that make you happy. When you are sad or upset, you can reach in and pull one out. A positive thought or remembering happy memories can help us increase our happiness.
  • Cut out the Positive Affirmation Cards and talk about them as you cut them out and place them in a bag or box.
OR If they are pre-cut, let scouts go through their set of cards and pick out their favorite and share why it’s their favorite.
