Multi-Level Cookie Business – Activity List

Activity List Construction is In Progress – Not Complete

The Cookie Business badges released in 2021 were designed to fit naturally into your troop’s regular Cookie Season activities. That means:

  • Most badge steps happen automatically as scouts participate in the sale.
  • Multi-level troops can more easily earn these together without needing separate plans.
  • The older C/S/A levels include 1–2 extra steps that focus on specific skills like goal setting, budgeting, or marketing.

There are 4 core topics each level covers, and one category for the extra requirements C/S/A levels require.

Facts

Most levels only need to know the cookie flavors and box prices. One of the Brownies badges requires practice making change. Cadettes take it further by researching a specific aspect of cookie sales, such as marketing, taste testing, or customer trends.

Topic: Cookie Facts: Learn the flavors and how much a box costs.

Topic: Money Facts: Practice making change.

Topic: Research Facts: Research one aspect of cookies (i.e. digital marketing, cookie taste testing, market research).

Goals

Every level mentions a troop goal except the last Ambassador badge. Most require just to set a troop sales goal and personal goal. Others require setting a troop budget or using the SMART goal system. A few require making a tracker for your goal.

Topic: Set Goals: Brainstorm ideas, pick one to make a troop sales goal, and set your personal goal.

Topic: Budget Goals: Set a troop goal and budget and get feedback

Topic: SMART Goals: Learn what SMART is and apply it to the troop sales goal.

  • Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Senior Cookie Boss badge requirements.

Topic: Tracking: Make a way to track sales with a goal tracker or using the online sales tracking feature.

Plans

Starting with Brownies, every Cookie Business badge includes some form of planning. Brownies begin by assigning team roles, while older scouts create sales strategies and full marketing campaigns. Planning may include booth teamwork, spirit elements like costumes or songs, detailed sales plans with feedback, and scheduled marketing efforts.

Topic: Spirit Plans: Decorate your booth, make a cookie costume, OR make a cookie song/dance.

Topic: Teamwork Plans: Decide how roles are assigned when selling cookies at booths or in the troop.

Topic: Sales Plans: Make a sales plan, write the specifics of your plan, and get feedback.

Topic: Marketing Plans: Make a general marketing plan, detail the marketing plan, and schedule it out

Customers

Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors start with learning what to say and who to say it to. As scouts progress, they refine their sales pitches, brainstorm customer lists and outreach, and practice sharing the purpose behind the sale.

Click the name of the desired topic to see a list of possible activities.

Topic: Customer Practice: Learn what to say to customers and practice it.

Topic: Customer Sharing: Share the reason for the cookie sale with customers.

Topic: Pitches: Make a sales pitch and practice, create a video, or write it down and get feedback (Ambassador needs feedback from 3 mentors).

Topic: Customer Reach: Make a list of potential customers and ways to reach them (i.e. a social media campaign).

C/S/A Extras

The older (C/S/A) levels adds one or two extra requirements that go beyond the basics four topics. These steps explore topics like business goals, mentoring younger scouts, business ethics, social responsibility, resumes, portfolios, and value propositions. These can be kept simple or explored in more depth depending on your troop. To earn the Cookie Entrepreneur Family Pin, Cadettes must also learn about financial planning, while Seniors and Ambassadors must complete both a Cookie Business badge and a Financial Literacy badge.

Click the name of the desired topic to see a list of possible activities.

Topic: Business Ethics: Learn about Business Ethics and how it applies to cookie sales.

Topic: Business Skills: Learn a new business skill (i.e. mentor, research, video)
