Items Needed:
- Outdoor area with plants, grass, or trees
- Optional: paper and pencil for drawing or note-taking
Instructions (Total Time: 30–35 Minutes):
- Look for Bugs (15–20 minutes)
- Scouts explore an outdoor space safely with adult supervision
- Encourage scouts to find three different types of bugs
- When they spot one, pause to observe quietly and discuss what it’s doing
- Observe and Discuss (10–12 minutes)
- Scouts share ideas about the bug’s name, behavior, and habitat
- Notice things like crawling, flying, eating, or hiding
- Leaders can help guide the conversation with simple questions
- Reflect Together (5 minutes)
- Ask scouts what surprised them
- Share something they learned from watching bugs in action
