Items Needed:

  • Computer with internet access
  • Projector or screen (optional)
  • Crayons or markers
  • Blank paper (one sheet per scout)

Instructions (Total Estimated Time: 35 minutes):

  1. Watch Bug Videos (10–12 minutes)
    • Scouts view short educational videos on different bugs
    • Optional: vote on which bugs to watch first
    • Scouts listen for facts like where the bug lives, what it eats, or how it helps nature
  2. Draw and Design a Poster (10–12 minutes)
    • Each scout chooses one bug they found interesting
    • Scouts draw a picture of the bug with space for labels and writing
  3. Add Bug Facts (8–10 minutes)
    • Scouts label the bug’s body parts
    • Scouts answer questions next to their drawing:
      • Where does the bug live?
      • How long does it live?
      • What does it eat?
      • What is good about the bug?
      • What is not so good about it?
      • Who are its enemies?
  4. Share and Reflect (3–5 minutes)
    • Scouts show their posters to the group
    • Each shares one fact or surprise they learned about their bug
