One of the 8 options for Step 1 of GSUSA Cadette MEdia Journey Set requirements.
Items needed
- Pens or pencils
- Paper (enough for at least one per scout)
Instructions
- Scouts think about commercials, ball games, and shopping malls, and reflect on what music is meant to accomplish in each setting.
- Over two days—one weekday and one weekend—scouts track when and where they hear music. This could be during commercials, at school, in stores, or anywhere else they go.
- For each instance, scouts write down:
- Where they heard the music.
- How the music made them feel or react.
- Whether they think the music achieved its purpose (e.g., grabbing attention, creating excitement, setting a mood).
- Afterward, scouts reflect on how music influences them and discuss whether they noticed any differences between the weekday and weekend observations.
