All the New Cookie Business badges released in 2021 are designed to have most of the requirements naturally done during every Cookie Season. This makes it helpful to earn just by doing the Cookie Sale even on multi-level troops. Some have 1-2 requirements that require specific skills or learning in the C/S/A level. Ambassador is the most different from other levels, but as they require teaching younger troops – it’s ideal for them to be in multi-level.
We analyzed all the Cookie Business badges AND the Cookie Family Entrepreneur Pins. All levels have slightly different requirements, but when you look at them, the basics are all in 4 categories.
- Make a Troop Goal
- Some levels have make a personal goal or details of making a budget for the cookie money, but every level mentions a troop goal except the last Ambassador badge.
- Know the Cookies
- D/B/J levels detail knowing the cost of the cookies as well but C/S/A categorizes them all in knowing the cookie sale. Flavors, facts, costs, marketing tools, etc. are all part of knowing your cookies.
- Make a Plan
- Each level that requires a plan states it slightly differently. Brownies you are just assigning roles to team members, and in Ambassador it’s a marketing campaign – but every level, from Brownie on, needs to learn to make a plan.
- Customer Lists/Scripts
- D/B/J starts by just listing potential customers and knowing what to say when they talk to them. C/S/A you’re perfecting scripts and brainstorming new customers and ways to reach them.
- Some levels have additional requirements of thanking customers, blinging a booth, or other customer interaction – but it all connects back to lists and scripts.
- C/S/A Extras
- Each Cookie Business badge level adds one or two extra requirements starting in Cadettes. Topics can be simple or you can dive deep: Business goals, teaching younger scouts, business ethics, social responsibility, SMART, Resumes, portfolios, value proposition
- The Cookie Family Entrepreneur Pins require Cadettes to Earn a Cookie Business badge and learn about financial planning, and the S/A levels need to earn Financial Literacy badges.
Later we’ll work on getting an activity list together so you easily pick one that fits your troops needs. For now, below is our excel spreadsheet that shows what each level needs to target if you want to get more specific with earning your D/B/J badges – or you want to know what C/S/A extras are required for each level.
