Updated March of 2025
NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month – November! The official goal is to write 50,000 words of a novel in 30 days.
This challenge was started back in 1999. You can join the official NaNoWriMo community – but The Badge Archive is using the Novel Writing month to challenge the GSUSA Seniors to complete their Novelist badge instead!
Seniors can certainly try for more – but The Badge Archive’s Novelist NaNoWriMo challenge is four parts
- Use the first 6 days to set up your idea.
- Spend the next 20 days writing one page a day – a total of 20 pages.
- Take 3 days for review – DON’T READ or EDIT YOURSELF!
- The last day you re-read what you wrote and you’re allowed to make any edits you want!
Don’t be fooled – getting 20 pages written in 30 days is still going to be a challenge. Afterall, Seniors are very busy with their High School classes, Girl Scout troops, and their other extra curriculars. But it’s doable!
This Challenge was originally for 2024 November! However, any Senior is welcome to do a 30 Day Challenge, either in a straight 30 days of their choice OR do six days of work, with one day break for 5 weeks straight.
