Our Summary* of requirements:
- Evaluate (compare or use CARS checklist) a news story (same story in two forms of media, OR same story on three different websites), OR pick a media source in each category (substantive, scholarly, popular, AND sensational) and compare how they look and source information.
- Check information (an article, a talk show, OR a public figure speech) with trusted sources (factcheck.org OR politifact.com).
- Find an ad (online or in print) and investigate the claims (read the fine print, consumer report, OR compare to Federal Trade Commission policies), OR find a vintage ad (1960s, 1970s, or 1980s) and rewrite it using the Federal Trade Commission’s policies.
- Compare facts from everyday life (listen to verbal facts for a week and investigate their claims, search five websites for one topic and rate which are the most reliable, OR compare a movie/book’s trailer/promotional ad to a posted review AND your own personal thoughts after seeing/reading it).
- Write something (article, letter, blog post, or video) citing credible sources. Recommended to send it to someone (letter to editor, post online, OR social media).

Is there a matching badge for Multi-Level Troops?
There are no correlating journey or badges. We recommend a Fun Patch for other levels, unless you pair Truth Seeking with a different topic in another level. Like seeking out which facts on a list are true or false when researching silly laws in a Democracy badge. Or health facts in a Health and Wellness or First Aid badge.
