Released in 2011 but is considered part of the 2011 Girl’s Guide. The Cadette page has information on when all badges were released.

Can be earned as a single badge or as part of the Cadette Outdoor Journey set. (Journeys retire in Oct 2026.)

What is this badge about?

Get in shape for a hike, plan food and a hiking adventure, and learn one new skill.

Our Summary* of requirements:

  1. Plan an adventure using the GSUSA checklist and consulting an expert (talk to an experienced camper, speak to a local trekking club, OR research maps, and info on locations from library, rec center, or store).
  2. Get your body in shape with a physical activity (physically challenging team-building course, do 3 hikes/bike trips/jogs for 30 min each, OR take a “boot camp” course in your community or with a coach/trainer).
  3. Plan what to eat when going on the adventure (three quick meal recipes, energy snacks, OR create as little trash as possible while on the adventure).
  4. Learn one new skill (purify water, navigate with map/compass or GPS, OR pitch tent in three locations with different conditions).
  5. Do an activity while on your adventure (stuff-sack dramatics skits, constellation viewing, OR progressive story telling).
