What is this badge about?

Chosen a textile art (thread based, yarn based, quilting, or other), learn how to do it from an expert, and make two projects.

Our Summary* of requirements:

  1. Explore what kind of textile arts there are (dying thread or fabric, quilting, knitting, crochet, tatting lace, felting, etc.) in a tangible way (research two different arts from another culture, interview a textile artist, OR visit a textile exhibit at a gallery or museum).
  2. Learn about the tools needed for your chosen textile art (thread based, yarn based, quilting, or other).
  3. Learn the basics from a trusted source (mentor, class, or book/magazine/online how-to).
  4. Make something for everyday use (something to wear, to use at home or meeting place, OR an accessory).
  5. Make something to give away or for a special occasion (gift for friend/family, item for a holiday or family event, OR item to give to charity).
