Released in 2022 but is considered part of the 2011 Girl’s Guide. My Money Plan replaced Savvy Shopper (now retired) as the new Year 2 Financial Literacy Badge. The Junior page has information on when all badges were released.

What is this badge about?

Learn about jobs, income, investing, and how to protect personal banking info.

Our Summary* of requirements:

  1. Explore jobs (job charades OR work shadow) OR explore money making ideas (turning a hobby/interest into a business OR list of things you could earn money at home) and try one.
  2. Find out how much income 3 different jobs would have (learn income for 3 different careers AND answer 4 questions for one career, interview 3 people with 6 questions AND comparison chart answers, OR host a job fair with at least 3 different careers and ask each questions).
  3. Learn details on take home pay (play income tax game, learn about paystub deductions and calculate a fake one, OR pay taxes on play money income to see how much you would have after two weeks of “work”).
  4. Learn about investing (research pros AND cons of 2 ways people invest, look up cost of stock for one company every day for one week and analyze the data, OR play a risk/rewards game in GSUSA booklet).
  5. Learn how to protect personal banking info (list five best practices, make poster with tips, OR learn about two-step verification AND how to safely access and protect a bank savings account).
