What is this badge about?
Explore the advantages and difficulties of eating locally grown and 10 local food sources, make 1 dish with focus on ingredients, make 1 dish from a local recipe, and either participate in a cooking challenge or preserve food in one way.

Our Summary* of requirements:
- Interview someone in the food industry (amateur or professional chef, farmer, transport worker, OR grocery store manager or employee) about the advantages and difficulties of eating locally grown, seasonal foods OR make a 5 questions survey for friends and family about that topic.
- Identify and research 10 local food sources within your area (10 foods in season, 10 foods in your house with local equivalents, OR 10 sources in a 5-100 mile radius of your house).
- Prepare a meal using locally sourced ingredients OR experiment with main ingredients (2 different dishes with the same main ingredient, OR 2 different salads with three ingredients each).
- Find a recipe that highlights local ingredients (from a local chef, local family/friend, OR community gardener/farmer/store staff) AND make it.
- Participate in a cooking challenge using only local ingredients (three-course meal with locally grown food, OR dish from scratch) OR preserve food in one way (canned, dehydrated, OR repurposed).
