- Learn three basic maintenance techniques or common repairs from a trusted source (mechanic, driving teacher, car expert, repair shop, OR instructional car care video).
- Compare safety requirements for a specific purpose (handling characteristics and safety features of five car models, two different insurance agencies required safety features and costs, OR test dummy crash and rollover ratings of three cars).
- Research driving statistics (top ten list of safe driving practices, what drivers do right and wrong, OR common safety issues among teens in your area) from a trusted expert (DMV, driver’s ed teacher, safe driving seminar, OR highway patrol officer), OR observe traffic yourself for 30 minutes each time, at three different times a day, AND note number of vehicles and how many safety violations you observe AND analyze the data.
- Research five common driving hazards or auto breakdowns (slippery roads, flat tires, overheated engine, foggy conditions, weather issues, road trash, etc.) from a trusted source (local service station, roadside service organization, OR online) OR make a roadside emergency kit AND know how to use everything inside it.
- Compare fuel efficiency ratings between comparable normal, hybrid, and electric vehicles, OR experiment with choosing to reduce fuel usage (record fuel efficiency for one normal week, then practice GSUSA Energy Efficient Driving Tips for one week and compare data), OR use a 3-mile radius map of your home AND decide three ways to cut your number of trips by half.
