Released in 2022 but is considered part of the 2011 Girl’s Guide. Budget Builder replaced Money Manager (now retired) as the new Year 2 Financial Literacy Badge. The Brownie page has information on when all badges were released.

What is this badge about?

Learn the cost of needs and wants and build a budget.

Our Summary* of requirements:

  1. Find out what it costs for specific items (groceries, clothes, school supplies).
  2. Practice telling the difference between a want or a need.
  3. Find out what it costs for a fun adventure.
  4. Find one way to lower costs (thrift stores, comparison shopping, reusing things).
  5. Budget something with only $15 (meal, shopping, or pooling budgets to get something bigger).
