World Thinking Day Cards for a Cause

Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Ambassador GS Way Badge requirement.

Items Needed:

  • Cardstock or blank greeting cards
  • Markers, colored pencils, or crayons
  • Stickers, stamps, or decorative elements
  • Glue, scissors, and any other crafting supplies

Instructions:

1. Choose a Cause:

  • Select a cause or issue that your troop is passionate about or that aligns with the theme of World Thinking Day for the year.
  • Examples: environmental conservation, gender equality, education for all, or health and wellness.

2. Design the Front of the Card:

  • Encourage the scouts to draw or create artwork that represents the chosen cause.
  • They can include symbols, slogans, or images that highlight the importance of the cause (e.g., trees for environmental conservation, books for education).

3. Write a Message Inside:

  • Ask the scouts to write a heartfelt message related to the cause.
  • Encourage them to include why the cause is important to them and how they hope others will support it.
  • Example messages:
    • “Together, we can make a difference for our planet. Let’s protect our environment!”
    • “Education is a right for every child. Let’s support access to education for all!”

4. Add Finishing Touches:

  • Decorate the card with stickers, stamps, or any other decorative elements.
  • Personalize the cards with their first names or camp names or troop number.

5. Share and Distribute:

  • Decide how the cards will be shared or distributed. They can be given to family, friends, community members, or even sent to organizations supporting the cause.
  • Consider hosting a card-making event where the girls can create and distribute cards together.
