Info Needed: We cannot speak the same language, but we learn a lot about animals just by watching them. What actions do they make? What do they eat? What kind of families do they have?
Items Needed:
- Device that can play your chosen online animal video or live cam
- Printout for Animal Notes
- My Animal Notes by The Badge Archive
- VTK Animal Field Notes

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15 min):
- Choose an online animal video or live cam to watch. (2 min)
- (Optional) Use one of the following:
- Video: Backyard Observation (1:56 min)
- Video: Jungle Observation (4:10 min)
- Live Cam: 25 Best Animal Live Cam
- (Optional) Use one of the following:
- Watch the animal and look for interesting actions or behaviors. (5 min)
- Scouts observe how the animal moves, eats, or interacts with others.
- Fill out the Animal Notes worksheet. (5 min)
- Scouts can write or draw what they noticed.
- (Optional) Help scouts remember three fun facts.
- Invite scouts to share one thing they learned. (3 min)
- Encourage listening and celebrating each scout’s observation.
