- Scout’s prototype, app, or written idea (from a previous activity)
Instructions (Total Time: 35–45 minutes):
- Write Your Survey Questions (10–12 minutes)
- Scouts write 3–5 open-ended questions that help them learn what others think about their creation
- Sample question ideas:
- What do you like about this idea?
- What would you change or improve?
- Would you use this? Why or why not?
- Who do you think this invention is best for?
- Run a Survey in the Troop (15–18 minutes)
- Scouts take turns presenting their idea to other scouts
- They ask each scout their survey questions and write down the responses
- Encourage them to listen for patterns or surprising answers
- Review Your Feedback (7–10 minutes)
- Scouts study the answers they received
- They look for ideas that could make their product stronger, more useful, or more interesting
- Prepare to Survey People Outside the Troop (2–3 minutes)
- Scouts choose 2–3 people they could ask at home, school, or in the community
- They write down who they’ll ask and decide how they’ll collect feedback (in person, on paper, or digitally)
