Sun Themed Science

Sun Themed Science Experiments explore how sunlight affects heat, growth, and transformation through hands-on investigations.

Info Needed for Daisy Space Science: The sun looks like it moves across the sky because Earth is spinning. When we see the sun in the morning, our part of Earth is turning toward the light. At night, our part of Earth turns away from the sun. It looks like the sun has gone down. Shadows change during the day because the sun’s position in the sky changes.

Possible Projects:

  • Ice Cube Melting Color Experiment (25–35 min) – Place colored ice cubes in the sun and observe how color affects melting speed.
  • Make Raisins (2–3 days) – A slow but rewarding edible science experiment.
  • Seed Grow in Darkness Experiment (3–5 days) – Observe how sunlight affects plant growth over time.
  • What Melts in the Sun (20–30 min) – Place various objects in the sun and observe which ones melt, teaching kids about heat and material properties.
