Sticky Note Comics

Activity Description: Scouts create a four-panel comic using sticky notes to tell a short story with a clear beginning, middle, and end.

Info Needed: Practice comic storytelling by turning everyday moments, familiar scenes, or original ideas into short visual narratives.


Items Needed:

  • Pens or pencils
  • Sticky notes (10 per scout)

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–25 min):

  1. Choose a story challenge to guide the comic. (2 min)
    • Scouts may use a real-life event
    • Scouts may retell a scene from a movie or book they know well
    • Scouts may create a new idea and keep details simple
  2. Pass out pens or pencils and sticky notes. (1 min)
  3. Create a four-panel comic strip using sticky notes. (7–15 min)
    • The first panel introduces the setting, characters, and situation (the introduction).
    • The second panel shows the character’s goal (what they are trying to do).
    • The third panel introduces the conflict (something that prevents the character from achieving the goal).
    • The fourth panel resolves the story with a punchline or conclusion (the resolution).
  4. Share completed comic strips with the group. (3–8 min)
    • (Optional) Scouts explain their story choices or favorite panels
