Spa-Day Event

Fulfills Step 1 of GSUSA Mind, Body, Me badge requirements.

Info Needed: Physical experiences can impact emotional health. Whether through energetic movement or calming self-care, scouts can activate natural mood boosters and feel more mentally balanced.

Items Needed:

  • Paper
  • Pencils or pens
  • (Optional) Music player and speakers
  • (Optional) Pillows, mats, or comfy seating
  • (Optional) Spa supplies: nail polish, lotion, hair accessories, coloring tools, etc.
  • (Optional) Snacks or drinks (if allowed)
  • (Optional) Sign-up sheets or station labels

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 2–4 hours total across two meetings):

  1. Meeting Before: Plan the self-care day. (Estimated Time: 45–60 min)
    • Scouts brainstorm relaxing or pampering activities they’d enjoy.
    • Create a list of 4–6 stations (see suggestions below).
    • Decide who will lead or set up each station. Remember that all scouts will all be moving from each station together so station leaders still get to participate in all other stations.
    • Choose a date, time, and location for the event.
    • Make a supply list and assign who will bring what.
    • (Optional) Create a simple flyer or invite for guests or other scouts.
  2. Day of Event: Prepare the space and supplies. (Estimated Time: 30–45 min)
    • On the day of the event, scouts set up each station with needed supplies.
    • Arrange comfy seating and play relaxing music.
    • (Optional) Add signs or instructions at each station.
    • (Optional) Set up a snack or hydration area.
  3. Host the self-care day. (Estimated Time: 60–90 min)
    • Scouts rotate through stations or choose their favorites.
    • Encourage calm, kindness, and quiet enjoyment.
    • Leaders support but let scouts take the lead.
  4. Reflect and record. (Estimated Time: 15–20 min)
    • Scouts journal or discuss how they felt during and after the event.
    • What activities helped them feel relaxed or happy?
    • What would they change or add next time?
  5. (Optional) Share and celebrate. (Estimated Time: 10–15 min)
    • Scouts may share favorite moments or thank each other for hosting.
    • Leaders can recognize effort and teamwork.
