Singing – Repeat and Answer Songs

Repeat and answer songs are perfect for new scouts because only the song leader needs to know the lyrics! These songs work by having the leader sing a line, and the rest of the group repeats or responds, making them easy to follow and great for building energy at campfires, meetings, and gatherings. Many of these songs are funny, interactive, or silly, ensuring that everyone can join in without needing to memorize lyrics ahead of time.

List of Movement Songs

  • Boom Chicka Boom – A lively call-and-response song with silly voices and exaggerated styles.
  • Flea, Fly, Mosquito – A fast-paced chant with nonsense words and rhythm-based repetition.
  • Little Red Wagon – A fun song where scouts answer enthusiastically to the leader’s lyrics.
  • Purple Soup – A fun song about making an imaginary soup, with silly ingredients and movement.
  • Tarzan Song – A high-energy chant with different characters, including Tarzan and Jane.
  • The Donut Shop – A humorous song with repeating phrases and playful variations.
  • The Green Grass Grew All Around – A classic layered song where each verse builds upon the last.
  • The Moose Song – A goofy song about a moose drinking juice, with actions and echo responses.
  • The Penguin Song – An interactive song with motions that become harder as the song progresses.
  • The Princess Pat – A fun song about Princess Patricia of Connaught, the Colonel-in-Chief of the Canadian Forces who designed and made by hand the regimental colors (A  rick-a-bamboo).
