Role-Play Fairness

Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Daisy Petal – Honest and Fair badge requirements.

Items Needed

  • Prepared scenarios or situations that demonstrate fairness

Instructions

  1. Assign scouts roles based on scenarios that involve fairness (e.g., sharing, following rules, or including others).
  2. Let scouts act out the scenarios.
  3. After each role-play, discuss whether the actions were fair and how fairness could be applied.

Possible Scenarios:

  1. Art Supplies: A group is coloring, but one child has all the crayons while others have none. They role-play sharing crayons equally.
  2. Birthday Party Invite: Act out a scenario where a group decides who to invite to their party. They practice including everyone and making fair choices.
  3. Classroom Helpers: Pretend the teacher asks for helpers and one child doesn’t get chosen. Role-play how to fairly share responsibilities and include everyone.
  4. Cleanup Time: Pretend one child doesn’t want to help clean up after an activity. They act out how everyone can follow the rules and share the work fairly.
  5. Game Rules: Pretend a group is playing a board game, and one child tries to skip their turn. They act out how to follow the rules so everyone gets a chance.
  6. Line Cutting: Role-play waiting in line for a slide, and one child tries to cut ahead. The group practices politely taking turns and following the order.
  7. Play-Doh Sharing: One child has a large amount of Play-Doh while others have very little. They role-play dividing it equally.
  8. Playground Inclusion: A group is playing a game, and one child is left out. They role-play inviting the child to join the fun.
  9. Snack Time Sharing: One child has extra snacks while another has none. They role-play sharing so both have enough.
  10. Team Game Inclusion: A group is choosing teams for a game but leaves one child out. They role-play making sure everyone is included in the game.
  11. Toy Sharing: One child is playing with a toy that another child wants. They role-play asking politely to take turns with the toy.
  12. Walking in a Line: Role-play walking in a line where someone keeps stepping out or running ahead. Practice staying in line to follow the rules.
