- Ruled or plain paper
- Wi-Fi or cable-connected laptops, tablets, or phones
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 40 min):
- Decide whether scouts will work individually, in pairs, or small groups based on device availability. (5 min)
- Choose a comic artist to research. (5 min)
- Scouts may start with a favorite comic or ask a friend for suggestions
- (Optional) Look up lists of well-known comic creators if unsure where to begin
- Search online for interviews, biographies, or articles about the selected artist. (10 min)
- Read and answer the following questions. (10 min)
- What made them want to create comics
- What makes their style unique
- Where are they from and how might their background influence their work
- (Optional) Write down two additional interesting facts about the artist or team
- Share findings with the group. (10 min)
- If multiple scouts researched the same artist, take turns sharing and compare notes
- (Optional) Discuss differences in style, favorite elements, and how learning about the artist changed their view of the comic
