Activity Description: Scouts take turns adding panels to each other’s comics in a group drawing game.
- Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Cadette Comic Artist badge requirements.
Info Needed: Practice comic storytelling by turning everyday moments, familiar scenes, or original ideas into short visual narratives.
Items Needed:
- Blank comic template (one per scout)
- Sample: Blank 4-panel comic grid
- Writing and coloring utensils
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 15–20 min):
- Divide scouts into small groups of 4–6. (2 min)
- Each scout gets a blank comic sheet with multiple panels.
- Scouts write their name at the top of their sheet.
- Each scout draws the first panel of a comic. (4 min)
- The panel can show a character, setting, or start of a story.
- For this first round, they are allowed 2 minutes to think and draw.
- Pass the comic sheet to the person on the right. (8 min)
- For the following rounds, everyone gets only 90 seconds to think and draw.
- Each scout adds the next panel to the comic they received.
- Continue passing and drawing until all 4 panels are filled. Each scout receives their original sheet back.
- (Optional) Share the finished comics with the group. (6 min)
- Scouts can explain what they started with and how the story changed.
