Fulfills Step 5 of GSUSA Cadette Netiquette badge requirements.
Items needed
- Pens or pencils
- Paper (enough for at least one per scout)
- Laptop or tablet (optional)
- Netiquette Tip Sheet
- Internet Safety Pledge (optional)
Instructions
- (Optional) Provide a copy of the Internet Safety Pledge as a starting point. The Internet Safety Pledge can be used as a guide for structure if needed.
- Scouts use the tips they’ve gathered to write a pledge focused on having a positive impact online:
- If working as a group, review and choose the most important tips to include. The group can decide what the pledge should say, and one or two scouts can write or type it.
- If working individually, scouts decide who their pledge will be useful to and write their own using the tips they’ve gathered.
- Once pledges are complete, scouts can print or email their pledge to the people they believe would benefit from it (e.g., schools, parents, friends).
- At the next meeting, scouts can share how many people signed their pledges.
