Fulfills Step 1 of GSUSA Daisy, Brownie, or Junior Coding Basics badge requirements.
Items Needed:
- Print a Pixel Art worksheet for each scout
- Troop Coloring Supplies (crayons, colored pencils, or markers).
Instructions:
- Explain that computers need clear, step-by-step instructions to perform tasks. An algorithm is a program to do something step by step. Sequence is the order those steps are done in. Sometimes it wouldn’t matter, like when you put your pants and shirt on or what order you color a coloring book. You could do it in any order. Sometimes it does matter, like if you tried to put peanut button on a sandwich after you already put the two slices of bread together, or when you are trying to draw a specific pattern.
- Use the chosen Pixel Art worksheet to practice algorithms.
Note – for video example of using graph paper art algorithms – check out code.org’s lesson.
