Items Needed

  • Computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access
  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Prototype (drawing or model from a previous activity)

Instructions (Total Time: 30–40 minutes)

  1. Watch Entrepreneur Pitches (10–12 minutes)
    • Scouts watch one or more clips of real entrepreneurs making a product pitch (see Videos of Real Entrepreneur Pitches listed below)
  2. Review What a Pitch Is (5–7 minutes)
    • Scouts talk about what makes a good pitch
    • Focus points:
      • Clearly explain the idea
      • Show what it does
      • Share who it’s for
      • Explain why someone should care or buy it
  3. Write a Pitch Draft (10–12 minutes)
    • Scouts write their own pitch to describe their invention or idea
    • Include answers to:
      • What is your idea?
      • What does it do?
      • Who is it for?
      • Why is it useful or exciting?
  4. Optional Reflection (5–9 minutes)
    • Scouts write one thing they learned from watching other pitches
    • They note one thing they might change or add to their idea before presenting it

    Carson pitched a paint storage container with an airtight seal. He impressed the Sharks with his business knowledge and secured a deal.

  6. Jack’s Stand – Jack Bonneau (Age 10)
    Jack pitched his lemonade stand business and youth entrepreneurship platform. His goal was to help other kids become entrepreneurs.
  7. Young Inventor Challenge Winners – 2024 Highlights
    Features multiple young inventors pitching toy and game ideas. Includes standout presentations like “Skirmish-Battle-War” and “Calming Cuddlees.”
