Items Needed:

  • 5 Steps to a Pitch by GSUSA (Optional – one per scout)
  • Pencil and paper for each scout
  • Prototype, drawing, or product idea to present

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 25–30 minutes):

  • Step 1: Learn the Pitch Steps (3–4 minutes)
    • Scouts look at the Brownie 5 Steps to a Pitch handout.
    • They think about what they will say for each step using their own idea.
  • Step 2: Practice in Pairs (10–12 minutes)
    • Scouts partner up and take turns practicing their pitch.
    • Each scout shares their idea using the 5 steps.
    • Partners listen and give one friendly suggestion to help improve the pitch.
  • Share with the Group (8–10 minutes)
    • Scouts present their pitch to the full group.
    • After each turn, the group claps to celebrate their effort.
    • If time allows, they can take one question or comment from the group.
  • Reflect (3–4 minutes)
    • Scouts talk about how it felt to share their pitch twice.
    • They write or draw one thing they got better at from practicing
