Personal Posters

Fulfills Step 3 of GSUSA Uniquely Us badge requirements.

Info Needed: Scouts brainstorm and share positive traits that have nothing to do with appearance, celebrating what makes each person great in their own way. Together, they create posters as physical reminders of their non-physical strengths.

Items Needed:

  • Posterboard (one per prompt)
  • Thick markers

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–30 minutes):

  1. Create Prompt Posters (5–7 minutes)
    • Brainstorm a list of positive non-physical traits or strengths.
      • Examples: “A subject I’m good at,” “Something kind I do,” “A way I help others,” “What makes me a good friend.”
    • Write one prompt per posterboard with clear marker writing.
    • Place posters around the room or on tables.
  2. Write Responses (10–12 minutes)
    • Scouts walk to each poster and write their own answer.
    • Responses can be short phrases, doodles, or sentences.
    • (Optional) Scouts can sign their name or leave answers anonymous.
  3. Present and Celebrate (5–10 minutes)
    • Ask for volunteers to present one poster and read a few responses aloud.
    • Celebrate the variety of strengths shown across the group.
    • Remind scouts that being great comes from the inside, everyone has something special to offer.
