Fulfills Step 3 of GSUSA Cadette Netiquette badge requirements.

Items needed

• Pens or pencils
• Paper (enough for at least one per scout)
• Laptop or tablet for scouts who prefer using them
• Netiquette Quiz by GSUSA (1-2 per scout)
• Netiquette Tip Sheet (from earlier activity)

Before the Meeting

• Scouts are sent home copies of the Netiquette Quiz to get a total of five business professionals to complete.

Instructions

• Scouts review the answers collected from five business professionals who completed the Netiquette Quiz.
• Ask scouts to think about communication apps they use with friends or family versus the apps professionals use. Discuss any differences.
• Reflect on how professional communication might differ from casual communication with friends or family. Scouts discuss why these differences are important.
• Use the Netiquette Quiz results to guide the discussion. Ask scouts to share professionals’ answers to each question, including their reasoning for specific responses, such as their views on all caps or short replies.
• After discussing the responses, have scouts brainstorm one or two tips to add to their Netiquette Tip sheets based on the quiz results.
