Fulfills Step 3 of GSUSA Daisy Cybersecurity Investigator badge requirements.

Items needed

• Small objects (e.g., stapler, paper cup, ruler, rubber band, crayon)
• Optional: Blanket

Instructions

1. Place small objects on a table. Allow scouts 15 seconds to look at and memorize the items.
2. Ask scouts to turn around. Remove 2 or more items from the table.
3. Scouts turn back around and guess which items are missing. Repeat a few times to improve their observation skills.
4. Next, have scouts observe the meeting room:
   • Point out objects (e.g., chairs, tables, decorations).
   • Identify the room’s entrance or exit.
   • Close their eyes to focus on what they hear or smell.
5. Discuss how observation keeps them safe:
   • Crossing a street: Use eyes to look for cars and ears to listen.
   • Online: Be aware of unfamiliar messages or unexpected changes on their computer and notify an adult.
