Make an Alphabet Book

Description: Scouts create a visual alphabet chart or book by matching letters with drawings of objects, animals, or actions that start with each letter.

Items Needed:

  • Paper (loose sheets or stapled booklet)
  • Pencils, crayons, or markers
  • (Optional) Alphabet reference sheet
  • (Optional) Stickers or printed images

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 25–35 min):

  1. Plan the alphabet chart or book (5–7 min)
    • Scout decides whether to make a single-page chart or a booklet with one letter per page.
    • They brainstorm items, animals, or actions that match each letter of the alphabet.
  2. Draw and label each letter (15–20 min)
    • Scout writes each letter and draws a matching picture next to it.
    • Examples: A for apple, B for butterfly, C for cat.
    • (Optional) Use stickers or printed images instead of drawing.
  3. Share and reflect (5–8 min)
    • Scout shows their chart or book to a partner or group.
    • Talk about which letters were easiest or hardest to match.
    • (Optional) Display finished charts or books in the meeting space.
