Make a Toy Parachute

Items Needed:

  • Lightweight plastic bag
  • String (4 equal pieces, about 12 inches each)
  • Small figure or object (like a plastic toy or eraser)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • (Optional) Hole punch

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20 min):

  1. Cut the plastic bag into a square or circle shape. (3 min)
    • Make sure it’s big enough to catch air but not too heavy.
  2. Attach one piece of string to each corner of the plastic. (5 min)
    • Use tape or (Optional) punch holes and tie the string through.
  3. Tie all four strings together at the bottom. (3 min)
    • Leave a little space below the knot to attach the figure.
  4. Tape or tie the small figure to the bottom knot. (4 min)
    • Make sure it’s secure but not too heavy.
  5. Drop the parachute from a safe height and watch it float down. (5 min)
    • (Optional) Try different shapes or figures to see what works best.
