Make a Cardboard Maze

Items Needed:

  • Shoebox lid
  • Cardboard strips
  • Scissors
  • Glue or tape
  • Marble or small ball
  • (Optional) Markers or stickers for decorating

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 30 min):

  1. Cut cardboard into strips about ½ inch wide and 3–6 inches long. (5 min)
    • (Optional) Decorate the strips with markers or stickers before building.
  2. Plan the maze layout inside the shoebox lid. (5 min)
    • Leave space for the marble to roll through paths and turns.
  3. Glue or tape the cardboard strips into place to form walls. (10 min)
    • Press each strip down firmly and let the glue dry a little before moving on.
  4. Test the maze by placing the marble at the start and tilting the box to guide it through. (5 min)
    • Adjust any walls if the marble gets stuck or the path is too easy.
  5. (Optional) Add a start and finish label or decorate the maze with fun themes. (5 min)
