Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Daisy Petal – Considerate and Caring badge requirements.
Items Needed:
- Paper strips (pre-cut)
- Markers or crayons
- Tape or glue
- (Optional) Printout of VTK Paying It Forward by GSUSA
Instructions:
- Explain what it means to “pay it forward” in simple terms: “When someone is nice to you, you can do something nice for someone else. This spreads kindness!”
- Give each scout a paper strip.
- Ask them to think of one kind action they can do for someone (e.g., share a toy, smile at a friend). Scouts write or draw their kind action on the paper strip.
- Tape or glue each strip into a loop, connecting them together to form a paper chain.
- See how long they can make the chain, adding more kind acts, without repeating what they or their fellow scouts have already added. As the chain grows, remind scouts how all their kind actions are connected to make a bigger impact.
- Show the finished kindness chain and talk about how it represents their kindness spreading to others. Encourage scouts to try their kind actions at home or school and share what happens at the next meeting.
