- Donation items for participating organizations (brought by scouts or collected ahead of time).
- Decorations (optional) for the donation drop-off area or meeting space.
- Supplies for costumes or themed accessories (optional).
- Treats for scouts and a special Service for Juliette patch.
Instructions:
- Set Up the Celebration Space:
- Designate an area in your meeting space to collect donations.
- Decorate the area with a fun and festive theme (e.g., balloons, streamers, or scout-made posters).
- Bring Donations:
- Ask scouts to bring donations for community partners. Suggested items can vary depending on the organizations you’re supporting (e.g., food items, toiletries, or gently used clothing).
- Participating Organizations:
- Choose one or more local organizations to support. Ideas include food banks, shelters, or community programs that align with the theme of giving.
- Celebrate Juliette Low’s Birthday:
- Kick off the event with a brief story or discussion about Juliette Low and the importance of giving back.
- Scouts can dress up in costumes or wear themed accessories to add a festive touch.
- Interactive Giving Games or Activities:
- Create a fun activity, like a “giving relay,” where scouts take turns carrying donations to the collection area while dressed in silly accessories.
- Lead a craft activity where scouts make thank-you cards or posters for the organizations receiving the donations.
- Closing the Celebration:
- Hand out treats to scouts and distribute the Service for Juliette patch as a keepsake.
- End with a reflection on the importance of giving back and how their donations will help others.
