JGL Identity Hunt

Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Daisy Cybersecurity Investigator badge requirements.

Items needed

  • VTK JGL ID Cards by GSUSA (place cards around the meeting room for scouts to find)

Instructions

  1. Scouts will collect and analyze clues to identify a person.
  2. Start by explaining what an identity is: It’s information that makes someone unique, like their name or birthday.
  3. Tell scouts they will play a game to uncover someone’s identity using clue cards placed around the room.
  4. Pair up scouts and have them find one card. Once they’ve found their cards, they gather together and share the clues they discovered.
  5. If scouts don’t guess the person’s identity (Juliette Gordon Low), collect all the cards and display them together. Ask guiding questions to help scouts guess:
    • Is this person a Girl Scout?
    • Is this person a leader?
    • Is their nickname Daisy?
  6. Reflect with scouts:
    • Was it easy or hard to figure out Juliette Gordon Low’s identity?
    • Which clue was the most helpful?
  7. Discuss how private information helps identify someone, such as their school’s name, mascot, home address, full name, or picture.
