Hiding Items

Fulfills Step 2 of GSUSA Daisy Petal – Honest and Fair badge requirements.

Items Needed

  • Items or Snacks (enough for 5 per scout)
  • Space to hide items

Instructions

  1. Hide items or snacks around the meeting space, ensuring there are 5 per scout.
  2. Explain that scouts must find the items or snacks but are allowed to collect only up to 5.
  3. Allow scouts to search for their items or snacks. Once some scouts have found all 5, encourage them to help others still searching.
  4. Wait until all scouts have 5 items and snacks, then have them count to ensure each has 5.
  5. Discuss:
    • How much easier it would have been for scouts who already had 5 items and snacks to take more.
    • What would happen if some scouts took extra—how many others might have fewer items or snacks or none at all.
    • How it would feel to be the scout left with fewer items or snacks.
