Guest or Host Pitch Meeting

Items Needed:

  • Brownie 5 Steps to a Pitch handout (one per scout)
  • Pencil or crayon for each scout
  • Completed prototype, drawing, or idea to present
  • Notecards or paper for feedback notes
  • (Optional) Thank-you notes or badges for guests or hosts

Prepare Before the Meeting:

  • Before the visit or guest arrives, scouts review their 5 Steps to a Pitch handout at home or in a previous meeting.
  • They think through what they want to say for each part of the pitch.
  • Encourage scouts to keep their pitch under one minute to stay on schedule.

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 35–50 minutes):

  • Greet the Guest or Host (2–3 minutes)
    • If on a field trip, scouts thank the host for having them.
    • If a guest came to the meeting, scouts welcome them and let them know they’ll be pitching their ideas.
  • Present the Pitches (24–40 minutes total; allow 3–5 minutes per scout)
    • One at a time, scouts share their pitch with the guest(s).
    • After each pitch, the guest gives one or two friendly thoughts—something they liked and one idea to make it better.
    • Scouts jot down the feedback on their notecard or paper while the next scout gets ready.
    • Group applauds after each presentation to celebrate each effort.
  • Thank the Guest or Host (2–3 minutes)
    • Scouts say thank you and, if prepared, give a card or special message as a group.
