Info Needed: Scouts learn that stretching is a way to care for their bodies and feel good. They listen to a story and copy movements described by the characters.
Items Needed:
- VTK On the Move by GSUSA
- Open space to stretch and move safely
Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–40 minutes):
- Prepare for Movement (5–7 minutes)
- Scout finds a clear space to sit and stretch
- Reader has the story ready and scouts can see or hear well
- Listen and Stretch Along (10–15 minutes)
- Scout listens to the story as the adult reads
- When a movement or stretch is described, they try it using their own ability and comfort
- Movements may include reaching, twisting, bending, or standing up
- They can adjust each motion based on what feels good for their body
- Reflect on Movement (5–10 minutes)
- Scout thinks about which stretch felt best and how their body feels after moving
- Optional: draw or talk about their favorite movement from the story
