GSUSA Ceremonies

Ceremonies in scouting are important because they celebrate achievements, foster unity, and honor traditions. They provide meaningful moments for reflection, growth, and recognition, creating lasting memories and reinforcing the values of scouting. These events help scouts feel a sense of pride and belonging while inspiring them to continue their journey.

There are many kinds of ceremonies done in the Girl Scout experience:

  • Court of Awards: Celebrate the achievements of Girl Scouts as they are presented with the badges, awards, and recognitions they have earned. These ceremonies provide an opportunity to reflect on accomplishments and share successes with families and the troop.
  • Bridging Ceremonies: Celebrate Girl Scouts moving up to the next level, symbolizing their growth and transition with elements like bridges and meaningful rituals.
  • Investiture Ceremonies: Welcome new members into Girl Scouting as they recite the Girl Scout Promise, receive their pins, and officially join their troop.
  • Rededication Ceremonies: Allow returning Girl Scouts to renew their commitment to the Girl Scout Promise and Law, often held at the beginning of the troop year.
  • Scout’s Own Ceremonies: Personal and reflective ceremonies created by the girls themselves to express their values, thoughts, or gratitude, usually centered around a specific theme.
  • Campfire Skits: Fun, informal performances that highlight teamwork and creativity, often taking place around a campfire during troop or camp gatherings.
  • Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award Ceremonies: Honor Girl Scouts for achieving the highest awards at their level by completing impactful community service projects. These ceremonies recognize their dedication, leadership, and accomplishments.
  • Flag Ceremonies: Honoring the flag and country.

Each ceremony type adds a unique touch to the Girl Scout experience, fostering connection, growth, and celebration.
