Group Pitch Practice

Items Needed:

  • 5 Steps to a Pitch by GSUSA (Optional – one per scout)
  • Pencil and paper for each scout
  • A completed prototype, drawing, or idea to present

Instructions (Estimated Total Time: 20–25 minutes):

  • Step 1: Review the Pitch Steps (3–4 minutes)
    • Scouts read through the 5 steps on the handout and think about what they want to say.
  • Step 2: Practice the Pitch (10–14 minutes)
    • Scouts take turns practicing their pitch in front of the group with only one minute or less per scout.
    • They describe their idea, how it works, and why someone would want it.
    • The group gives a round of applause after each pitch.
  • Step 3: Get Feedback (3–4 minutes)
    • Scouts listen to one or two friendly suggestions from the group.
    • They write down one idea to make their pitch stronger next time.
