*Inspired by an activity choice in the GSUSA 1980s program for Across Generations
Girl Scouting has changed a lot over the years, but some things have stayed the same, like friendship, outdoor adventures, and helping others. The Badge Archive’s Across Generations Project collects real stories from Girl Scouts who were active from the 1920s through today. You can read about camping trips, uniforms, badges, and troop traditions from decades past.
Some scouts wore button-up dresses and marched in parades. Others learned Morse code or backpacked through the mountains. Even though the activities and uniforms have changed, the spirit of Girl Scouting of kindness, courage, and community has stayed strong.
