All levels in Girlguiding UK can earn Skills Builders (Staged badges). They are designed with lower stages (one and two) being for the youngest’s Girlguide experience in mind. The highest stages (five and six) are designed for the eldest’s Girlguide experience. Girlguides may work on lower stages, but not higher than the recommended level.
- Rangers are recommended to do Stages 5-6
- Rainbows are recommended to do Stages 1-2
- Brownies are recommended to do Stages 2-3
- Guides are recommended to do Stages 3-5
Each Skills Builder stage has 5 activities.
- Stages 1-5 you complete 4 of the 5 listed activities to earn the badge.
- Stage 6 you complete 5 activities listed to earn the badge.
All Skills Builders have Stages 1-6 available. Each Skills Builders is an option to earning a specific Theme Award. We’ve listed which Theme Award is connected to after the Skills Builders badge name.

Skill Builders have Cards that need to be purchased separately from the Badge book. Girlguiding USA has some for free download. There are downloads with all 5 activities included, and occasionally just a single activity.
